The Reverend Byron Simpson is an Associate Minister at the Cornerstone Peaceful Bible Baptist Church (CPBBC) in Upper Marlboro, MD.  He was born and raised in the Washington, DC metropolitan area where he attended DC and Prince George’s County schools.  JR graduated high school with the third highest GPA in his graduating class (highest among male students) and received some of the school, city, and county’s highest recognitions.  He attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T SU) and received a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Computer Science.  The Reverend Simpson currently attends the Howard University (HU) School of Divinity where he is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree.  While attending HU, he has received the Perry Smith Scholarship Award, School of Divinity Trustee Scholarship Award, and is acknowledged as a National Golden Key Honor Society member.

Byron has served as a Regional Chairman where he occupied a seat on the National Board of Directors of the largest student-run organization in the world – National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) – by the age of twenty-one (21) and became the first graduate student to teach a General Engineering course at NC A&T SU.  Mr. Simpson was given the recognition of Lifetime Member #25 by NSBE.  During his career as an engineer, Byron was the youngest engineer to receive the national recognition of Black Engineer of the Year (BEOY) Modern Day Technology Leader, given by Black Engineer.com, at the age of twenty-three (23).  Byron Simpson, Jr. has also served as the President of the NC A&T SU Alumni Association, Inc. – Greater Los Angeles Chapter. 

The Reverend Simpson has been saved since childhood and a member of CPBBC since 1997.  He is licensed to preach the gospel and serves as the step coordinator for the CPBBC Men’s Step Team.  The Reverend Simpson is active in the gospel ministry as he serves as a founder and leader of the Stepping for Jesus Ministry.  This ministry ministers the gospel through the art of stepping to persons that attend step show competitions in the Washington , DC metropolitan area.  He also serves as the web designer and teacher for a local dance group where he uses dance as ministry for married couples and single persons. 

The Reverend Simpson has been called and chosen to serve in the pastoral ministry as an ordained minister.  He has served as the Assistant Pastor of Youth at the historic Shiloh Baptist Church of Washington, DC.  He also served as a Pastoral Care Intern at the Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg, MD.  Upon graduation from the School of Divinity, JR will begin to work in the area of Singles Ministry with churches domestically.  JR plans to pursue a professional Doctor of Singles Ministry degree while serving as a pastor. 

JR is a devoted brother, son, and uncle.  He is well-respected and loved by his peers, family, and friends.  He can be viewed as a counselor, scholar, teacher, mentor, and leader with the ability to encourage and inspire people to love others as Jesus loves us.
