Buehler -(Biography)
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.
(Jer. 1:5)
I grew up in the Washington, DC area. From an early age, I had an interest in internationals and learning foreign languages. I started studying French as a freshman in high school and God blessed me to excel in it. I continued my study of French through college and graduate school.
While obtaining my undergraduate degree, I served with the Baptist Student Union, organizing events for internationals in the state of North Carolina (where I went to university). I also had the privilege of having an international roommate. After university, God blessed me to obtain a Fulbright scholarship where I taught in France for a year.
All these experiences fueled my interest, so it wasn’t hard for me to answer “Yes” when I sensed the Lord calling me into mission ministry in 1993. I attended the tri-annual mission conference, Urbana, which gave me a solid foundation in what missions is about. In 1995, I took my first mission trip, to St. Maarten, N.A. to teach in Vacation Bible School. The next summer I spent 10 days in Haiti working in a village. In 1998, I went full-time to the foreign mission field, serving in Haiti for two years.
Now, I am embarking upon a career in missions with Wycliffe Bible Translators. My first term will be in Cameroon, West Africa and I will be serving in administration and management.
As I look back over my life, I can clearly see the hand of the Lord molding me, to prepare me for such a time as this.
